Stem Cell Therapy for Osteoathritis-Hope Medical Group

Knee OsteoarthritisOsteoarthritis
is a degenerative condition of cartilage loss. It is the leading cause of knee joint pain and disability among the elderly. Over the last few years, several methods have been developed techniques to repair the damaged cartilage of the knee joint .

Around 40 per cent of aging women suffer from post-menopausal knee osteoarthritis. This degenerative condition of cartilage loss is the leading cause of joint pain and disability among the elderly. Current therapies attempt to alleviate painful symptoms but are unable to preserve the cartilage lining the joint, with joint replacement often being the only option for restoring function.
Non-surgical treatments
In the past, the treatment of cartilage injuries has had its limitations. Today, cartilage regeneration using the adult stem cell therapy from umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSC) has made the treatment of complex cartilage injuries possible, especially at the knee joint. These degenerative changes to the joints occur when there is a breakdown of articular cartilage.
Successful preclinical results showed that umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSC) regenerated and regrew damaged knee cartilage in post-menopausal osteoarthritis. Stem cell treatment from umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSC) is highly effective for treatment of post-menopausal knee osteoarthritis.
Stem cell therapy in post-menopausal osteoarthritic knees resulted in significant and sustained cartilage regeneration for at least six months relative to baseline.
